“One Piece of Rice Paper” from Peter Binkley

IMG_0530

In the beginning you learn Tai Chi walk. That's your foundation stone. You move on and learn Parting the Wild Horse's Mane and Brush Knee. Eventually you learn your first form and all these separate pieces are then woven into a seamless fabric of movement like the chords in a  piece of music.  Ideally there should be no tears or rents, just a gentle flow of energy backed by intention and much practice .  Practice is the key.  A student once said that she had heard from a teacher, "Each day you practice Tai Chi you lay down one piece of rice paper. Each day you don't practice you pick up five pieces of rice paper."  So practice what you know and enjoy.
